GEO Grantmakers Visit Powerful Voices to Discuss Capacity Building

Powerful Voices was recently selected as one of seven nonprofits in the Seattle area to host grantmakers who were attending the Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) conference. At the site visit, hosted by Valisa
Smith of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, grantmakers had a chance to see first-hand how Powerful Voices has worked to build its organizational capacity.  Powerful Voices staff discussed how funders such as the Gates Foundation supported the organization to enhance fund development, build infrastructure and implement our 2003-2005 strategic plan.  We at Powerful Voices were grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate the importance and impact of an investment in nonprofit capacity building.   By strengthening the organization, we are able to create a deeper and longer lasting impact on the girls we serve.
