Artivism is an 11-week arts program for high school-aged girls and gender expansive youth of color of a wide range of experience with arts and program settings. Each teaching artist will have (1) two-week period to guide up to 12 youth in the creation of an original art piece, including discussion of the cultural or social impact of that art form, and how art can be built into organizing, education and career paths. Each two-week period consists of (4) 2.5 hour sessions, Monday and Wednesdays after school hours, for a total of 10 hours. The two-week increments are: Sep 22 - Oct 1 // Oct 6 - 15 // Oct 20 - Oct 29. Additional hours include orientation with youth at the beginning of the program, showcase preparation and support, a 30-minute debrief with the Program Managers at the end of each session, and a focus group after the program ends to get your feedback on your experience as an ARTivism Teaching Artist!
