Beyond the Canvas: Powerful Voices Luncheon

  • 415 Westlake 415 Westlake Avenue North Seattle, WA, 98109 United States (map)

Our theme for the luncheon in 2019 is Beyond the Canvas

We don't make change incrementally, but by emergence. with a fierce commitment to new ways of being. At Powerful Voices, we always believe in the possibility beyond where we are and the opportunity to  create something new. Core to our belief is that we already know what change needs to happen - we can tune in to change, tend to it, activate it, connect and acknowledge a future of love, openness, and humility. Our mission is to create brave spaces with girls* of color to take charge of their own power as leaders, igniting their abilities to confidently express themselves, build community, and act against injustices affecting their lives.

We ask you to join us to enable mutual learning and transformation.  Can we harness our collective power to imagine a more capable and compassionate organization that partners with young people? Can we think beyond the canvas that life has given us? We have been taught to accept the texture of the canvas, the size of it, the right way to use it. But we believe that we must be committed to creating new conditions for us to blossom and to form something new, even if we can't see what that looks like. Together we can create order from chaos, create growth where there was none, find value in creativity, find healing when it hurts, and break the status quo in service of achieving our mission.

We may not know what’s beyond the canvas, but we know it will take all of us to shape it. Together we can create a masterpiece. Let’s explore the world beyond the canvas together!

By supporting Powerful Voices, you are actually supporting our entire community. Your attendance will put you in community with our community.

The event is free to attend, but we ask you to consider a meaningful donation to support our work. Powerful Voices values gifts large and small - any donation will directly support our work for girls* of color. If you can't make it to the luncheon but want to donate, go here.
