Training Fellowship
Overview
The PV Events Fellowship is a paid summer fellowship opportunity for BIPOC girls & gender expansive youth in the greater Seattle / King County area. This is a hybrid (remote & and in-person) identity and leadership development program for a young community leader to use event production and curation as an opportunity to support fellow Seattle young people feel connected, empowered, and inspired.
During the program, the fellow will receive hands-on training, mentorship, and intentional skill development opportunities in areas like experience design, leadership, project management, and more. The program will culminate with the fellow leading the planning and execution of a Powerful Voices’s signature youth-focused community event, Girlvolution, with a $5k budget.
Goals & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leading the curation and planning of Girlvolution 2026 - which looks like working with various PV departments to spotlight their programs, working with youth leaders to design trainings and workshops, curating the look and feel of the event, etc
Supporting event coordination for (3) PV community events
Working alongside PV staff as a youth advisor helping to create meaningful youth engagement opportunities
Supporting with PV’s goals of building stronger youth networks through our events
Experience & Skill Development
Dedicated 1:1 training and mentorship from an experienced event coordinator
Training and professional development opportunities around event curation and program design
Hands on experience building your brand as a community organizer and leader
Opportunities to practice managing and facilitating complex community projects from start to finish alongside other youth, PV staff, and Seattle community members
Opportunity to design and manage a $5k event budget
MEETING, DATES & COMMITMENT
Fellowship Dates: Dates: June 23, 2026 - September 22, 2026
Event Dates:
Powerful Voices Radio Launch Party: tentatively July 18, 12-4pm
Healing Justice Summit: August 8th, 2026
Girlvolution: September 5, 2026, 10am-5pm.
Hours: Approximately 5 - 7 hrs/ week. This includes:
(2) 90 min trainings / month
(1) in-person 1:1 meeting / month
2 hrs independent work / week
1-2 hrs of co-working or planning meetings / week
Attending & supporting Powerful Voices Events
STIPEND
$1,712, paid in monthly installments
QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE
Organized self-starter with basic project management skills
A passion for connecting with other young folx and building community
Strong communication skills (writing and verbally)
ELIGIBILITY
You must be a BIPOC girl or gender expansive youth between the ages of 16 and 19 who lives / goes to school in or near Seattle, WA and King County
COVID-Safety
To help keep each other and our communities safe, Powerful Voices continues to require staff and community members to mask (with a high quality mask) at our events and meetings.
