Support and learn alongside BIPOC girls & gender expansive teens!

Adult Allies are BIPOC women and gender expansive adults who believe in the power of young people to create change and who are looking for community of people to help ground and envision what activism and social change work can look like. Adult Allies will support young people in the Activistas program.
Activistas (AVs) is a 16-week program of Powerful Voices in which BIPOC girls and gender expansive youth age 14-19 engage in self-exploration, dialogue, community building and project development rooted in social justice values such as healing justice, intersectionality and collective liberation. Activistas will learn directly from people in community about different possibilities and ways of being involved in social change work. They will step into the power of their voice and experiences as they turn their individual passions and strengths into collective action, ultimately presenting a project on a topic(s) of their choice at a culminating event on July 27, 2024.
As an Adult Ally you will learn alongside the Activistas and will take their lead in the planning of a final project. You will get to hear from amazing guest speakers and go on field trips in the community. Examples from the past have been Nurturing Roots, Red Eagle Soaring, WA-BLOC, Collective Justice, Doula Lo and more!

POWERFUL VOICES
Powerful Voices creates brave spaces with BIPOC girls and gender expansive youth to take charge of their own power as leaders, igniting their abilities to confidently express themselves, build community, and act against injustices affecting their lives.

13 WEDNESDAY SESSIONS, 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm
7:00-7:30 PM reserved for just adult allies debrief, youth will leave at 7
Extended Session on Wednesday, July 24, 4:30-8:00PM
4 SATURDAY SESSIONS WITH ACTIVISTAS, exact time & location TBD
April 26 - Retreat | May 18 - Field Trip | June 29 - Field Trip
July 26 - Culminating Event & Celebration!
ADULT ALLY ONLY DEBRIEF: Wednesday, August 7, Time TBD
**It's possible you'll meet with your Activista during outside of program-time as you get closer to final event

COVID SAFETY PROTOCOL:
Masks during program hours, with the exception of activities that are held outdoors which will maintain a safe distance of 6 feet.
Temperature checks to screen for fever (temperature equal to or higher than 100.4๐F)
Social distancing of at at least 6 feet
Hand washing and sanitizing
COMMITMENT
16 week commitment (some off-days)
Wednesdays 4:30-7:00pm and some Saturdays
